Senior Software Developer
Department: Interactive Product Development
Location: Philadelphia
Duties:
Responsible for design, development, and ongoing maintenance of web-based knowledge products, integrating clinical and educational resources of the ACP, and participating in the development of other related software applications. Will work in conjunction with all participating software development and deployment areas to produce a solution that is compatible with the existing ACP architecture and technical strategy.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Knowledge and experience leading small teams (and working individually) throughout the software development process, with emphasis on web architectures and development, is required. Knowledge and experience with XML-based, content-rich web applications with moderately large user base is also highly desirable. Candidates should exhibit broad experience with multiple languages, web servers, and environments, but with emphasis in rich client technologies such as AJAX (Javascript, CSS, XML, and XSLT) and Adobe Flash.
Deputy Editor, Annals Online
Department: Annals
Location: Philadelphia
Duties:
The Deputy Editor, Annals Online is a physician-editor dedicated to the development, implementation, and maintenance of features available to readers at www.annals.org. The position has two basic functions.
- 1. Online development of content and features for the Annals (60%). This person will interact with the other medical editors, technical program management, and other publishing/business staff on a daily basis to ensure that the electronic journal functionality is: updated and maintained; ideas for innovation are developed, evaluated, and, implemented; and that associated potential revenues from electronic publishing are fully explored and solicited. In addition the Deputy Editor, Annals Online will be one of the primary staff positions to interact with HighWire.
- 2. Manuscript Editing (40%): Responsible for handling the review, decision-making, editing, manuscript refinement, and preparation of ancillary materials associated with manuscripts submitted to and published by Annals. As appropriate, participates in the strategic planning of the journal.
Requirements:
Medical Degree required. The Deputy Editor, Annals Online must be a facile and demonstrated user of the Internet and electronic resources for physicians, have experience in patient care, and have excellent critical appraisal skills. Demonstrated knowledge of how to evolve and maintain electronic forums for relevancy in an academic publishing setting.
Web Content Coordinator
Department: Communications
Location: Philadelphia
Duties:
In support of the organization’s strategic communications and marketing goals, serves as coordinator of web initiatives that include cross-divisional and cross-departmental content providers. Assists in the coordination of newly developed content along with the moderation of user-generated content to ensure quality and consistency across all web pages; assisting with the integration of new content delivery technologies and content workflow systems; providing editorial guidance to content owners using the ACP editorial guidelines; performing content audits and editorial reviews of existing content to ensure optimal web readability, assisting in the collection, review and assessment of both qualitative and quantitative web metrics.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Graphic Design or Communications. Experience in writing for the Web and managing content development projects for Websites. Demonstrated proficiency with current web-related technologies, including HTML, content management systems and social media.
Analyst, Health Policy
Department: Health Policy Analysis and Research
Location: Washington, DC Office
There are two openings for this position.
Duties:
The incumbent will have demonstrated competency encompassing areas such as research and analysis efforts in health policy, logistical and staffing support to the Health and Public Policy Committee, familiarity with the organizational structure and relationships of governmental regulatory agencies and congressional committees. The incumbent assists in the development and preparation of congressional testimony and attends hearings and other meetings related to federal policy activities. Additionally, the incumbent demonstrates the ability to identify, obtain and analyze information from a variety of sources and to answer questions on policy and legislative issues from staff and members.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree, which demonstrates a basic understanding of research and analytical procedures. An associate’s degree with two years directly related experience or four years directly related experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. Good writing skills with a demonstrated ability to summarize complex health issues in a succinct manner highlighting key points. Basic understanding of the legislative and executive branch of government. Basic understanding of executive regulatory agencies involved in public health policy.
