Annals of Internal Medicine Publishes New USPSTF Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines
PHILADELPHIA, November 17, 2009 -- In an update to its 2002 recommendations, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) now recommends against routine breast cancer screening for women under the age of 50. Women between the ages of 40 and 49 at high risk for breast cancer should talk to their doctor about the best time to start regular, biennial screening mammography. These recommendations appear in the November 17 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine.
